The Federal Government has unveiled a new NIPOST-Paystack customs duty payment portal designed to streamline the processing of parcels arriving from abroad.
The platform was launched in Abuja by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, represented by the Permanent Secretary, who said the initiative will reduce human contact, eliminate delays, and align Nigeria’s postal services with global digital standards.
According to the Minister, the portal directly addresses longstanding challenges faced by Nigerians importing small parcels or business goods, such as hidden customs charges, long queues, and inefficiencies at post offices.
He noted that such problems have hindered trade, e-commerce growth, and the operations of small businesses, describing the new solution as one that supports President Tinubu’s digital economy and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) agenda.
He added that the system marks a turning point for citizens and businesses, helping NIPOST improve service delivery while increasing government revenue.
Postmaster General of the Federation, Engr. Tola Odeyemi, described the initiative as a new chapter in NIPOST’s transformation journey. She said the platform would enhance transparency in revenue collection and remove bureaucratic bottlenecks within the postal and logistics ecosystem.
Odeyemi highlighted that NIPOST’s collaboration with Paystack, Messenger, and Sendbox will enable seamless customs duty payments, support online transactions, and ensure doorstep delivery of international parcels.
She noted that the project demonstrates NIPOST’s renewed focus on convenience, transparency, and customer trust , qualities essential for boosting Nigeria’s participation in global digital trade.
