The Federal Government of Nigeria has selected 90,000 Nigerians as fellows in the third cohort of its 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, a key project aimed at developing the country’s technical workforce. This announcement was made by Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, on Tuesday.

The 3MTT initiative, which continues to accept applications, provides Nigerians with opportunities to learn in-demand tech skills and become part of a growing global digital economy. Dr. Tijani shared the news via social media, stating, “Cohort 3 of @3MTTNigeria is now live and we will be enrolling an additional 90,000 Fellows to start their training journey.”

The new cohort follows the earlier phases of the program, with Cohort 1 enrolling 30,000 fellows and Cohort 2, launching in March, expanding to 270,000 participants. The program’s objectives align with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda, aiming to create a talent pool that supports Nigeria’s digital economy while positioning the country as a net exporter of technical talent.

Tijani emphasized that fellows from the first two cohorts are already gaining practical experience through internships and hackathons across the country, where they collaborate to build solutions that demonstrate their newly acquired skills.

The 3MTT program offers training in a variety of skills, including Digital Marketing, Project Management Software, Cloud Platforms, Data Analysis, SEO, CRM Management, Graphics Design, UX/UI Design, and more. These skills will help equip participants for roles that leverage technology across different sectors, even if they don’t involve direct tech creation.

The Federal Government has committed to scaling the program, with the goal of reaching 3 million Nigerians, reflecting the growing demand for skilled talent in the global digital economy.
