FG to Inject N400 Billion into Gas Infrastructure Expansion
Share

The Federal Government is set to release an additional N400 billion for gas infrastructure projects across Nigeria within the next two weeks. Minister of Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, made the announcement during the groundbreaking ceremony of a 10MMSCF Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mother Station in Esit Eket, Akwa Ibom State.

This disbursement follows last year’s release of N122 billion under the same initiative, aimed at expanding gas infrastructure and promoting cleaner energy solutions. Ekpo emphasized that only bankable projects approved by the Transaction Adviser would receive funding, urging Akwa Ibom indigenes to collaborate with Nsik Oil and Gas to access the funds.

He encouraged Nigerians, particularly Akwa Ibom residents, to take advantage of opportunities in the gas sector rather than relying solely on government interventions. He also called on local authorities to create a supportive environment for such projects.

Nsik Oil and Gas Chairman, Nsikan Johnny, described the project as a significant step toward delivering cleaner, safer, and more affordable energy, while Project Consultant Mkposong Asuquo highlighted its role in job creation and technological advancement.

The government’s continued investment in gas infrastructure aligns with its broader strategy to enhance energy security, drive economic growth, and support sustainable industrial development.
