Sage Grey Finance Limited, a licensed financial institution, has awarded scholarships to five high-achieving students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) under the first edition of its Undergraduate Scholarship Programme. The award ceremony, held at the university’s main campus, underscores the firm’s commitment to human capital development and its belief in finance as a driver of social transformation.
According to a press release from the organization, the scholarship targets top-performing undergraduates in Management Sciences and Engineering. Each recipient received a ₦100,000 financial grant, selected through a rigorous screening process that required a minimum CGPA of 4.0 and excluded applicants already benefiting from other scholarships.
Adeyeye Sijuade, Vice President and Head of Compliance and Internal Audit at Sage Grey Finance, emphasized that the initiative is about more than academic support—it is an investment in Nigeria’s future. “This scholarship programme is a reflection of our long-term vision to empower the next generation of leaders. We are investing not just in individuals but in the future of our country,” he said.
The 2025 awardees are Francisca Ogehene-Vinyeze Sunday, Chuwutem Festus Okudibie, Gabriel Olaoluwa Akogun, Yusuf Olamide Bodunrin Barika, and David Akpan Emmanuel. They represent five Nigerian states: Lagos, Delta, Edo, Kwara, and Anambra.
One of the recipients, Gabriel Olaoluwa Akogun, a Computer Engineering student, expressed his gratitude. “The hard work we put in over the last couple of years has paid off. I’m standing here not just because of myself but also because of the students and department that helped me get here. This opportunity goes beyond just the monetary value, and I thank Sage Grey Finance and the University of Lagos for believing in us,” he said.
The initiative reflects a growing trend of private sector involvement in educational development, as businesses like Sage Grey Finance seek to nurture the next generation of Nigerian professionals and
leaders.
