Finding A Career In Tech; Skills Matters – tech is a platform, not a career.

Over the years, we have seen how technology has been tailored to make life easier thereby solving complex problems which we encounter in everyday life. This has been a great mark in humanity as it gives the opportunity to delegate to machines, thereby giving us time to focus on relevant issues that occurs in our lives. Technology solving problems in our everyday life does not entail that life will be ever easy as this is a FALLACY, nevertheless, it creates a gap in our life which is called BOREDOM and this makes humans lazier than before.

Technology is any scientific knowledge used in practical ways in various industries to design new machines or equipment or even gadgets. The innovation of technology to solve problems practically is what has inclined users to embrace it. Technology started as a result of evolution and it has been aiding to solve problems. This has helped people from, various walks of life, including students, educators, businesses (medium and small) and the global village to achieve much in a limited time and this has been the key advantage of technology and why it is thriving day after day.

A career is a job that has been allocated to any individual in any area of work, usually involving more responsibility in a solutions to problems after owning it. It is also a period of time that one spends in life, working or embarking on a particular project to achieve. Careers over the years has been part of what has kept humanity civilized and cultured. This is as a result of the responsibility and work that has to be done in a particular industry. To survive the tide of life, one has to have a career that would tend to given you a sense of purpose that will keep you driven towards your potential. In career, you must always encounter risk as this is what would give you a solid foundation unless you intend to be mediocre by “Being Nothing, Doing Nothing and Saying Nothing” (discuss for another day)

Now, let us delve into the case; Technology and career are tantamount to each other. Without Technology, there would be no Career and without Career, there would be no Technology. Technology has always been used to aid productivity in various career field like Health, Finance, Engineering (CORE), including Legal, Transportation and Security (NON-CORE), and Overhead duties – Businesses. Technology has never ceased to provide value to almost every industry of work and has been of great benefit which has been the reason behind advanced operations seen in this fields. Before now, high technology were only available to the elites but it is now accessible to the middle-class and even in Semi-rural areas (though not high tech) because of their carrying capacity and this has been a great advancement for technology. Technology has been a kind of cure to humanity as it has made the advent of Medicine, Electronic Finance Operations, Mechanical Tools, Electronic Transportation Operations and High-sense Security Gadget. The importance of technology is very essential to career advancement and it should not be underestimated. No matter how you use technology to delegate, do not intend to over-rely on it, and tend to develop your mental capacity in order not to face the harsh realities of life because EASY IS AN ILLUSION.

Furthermore, in the advance of technology; there have been Careers and Skills. A career is not a Skill and Skill is not a Career. Career is long term while Skill is short term (in the perspective of tech). But Tech Skills should not be downplayed because this is the reason Tech Career stands strong today. Tech Skills that could be used to help Tech Careers are CODE –

Software Development

Hardware Development

Product Designing

Cyber Security

Artificial Intelligence

While the NON-CODE are:

Digital Marketing

Project Management

Content Creation/Designing

Data Analysis/ Science

Blogging/SEO

All these skills are intertwined and they provide services to each other (Core and Non-Core) and also provides a mutual service between Careers.

In conclusion, Science Technology Engineering Accounting Math (code) – STEAM are crucial elements to solving problems in everyday life. Just as cement cannot do without water to make a block or build a structure, these elements all work together to proffer solutions in daily living. If you do not own a problem, you cannot solve it; as a beginner envisaging the tech field career or skill in order to aid your endeavor as a business owner, student or educator, etc., you must first have a PURPOSE then you must look for a PROBLEM and then you PROFER (solution) to the Problem as this is what will ignite your Potential and grant you PROMOTION in tech. if you are faced with a lot of competition in your field, do not look for what you could do better than others in your field but what you could do differently from others in the field; for difference is where true success lies. Consequently, follow these steps to succeed in your industry through tech

Know your field

Look for problems

Collaborate with others

Make researches

Seek for feedback

ASK QUESTIONS

Always learn….Get results

Tips

Tech had no inception, it is evolution

Career is broad, Skill is narrow

Use your gadget to give value.

New words

Technophile – lover of tech

Technophobe – hater of tech

…do not be an extreme lover of tech nor an extreme hater of tech; be neutral (Tradition + Tech = Technical knockout)

Thought

When will technology give life

Trivia

When will technology give food to the table (not aggrotech)
