Reckitt Nigeria has concluded the 2024 edition of its Access Accelerator Programme in Lagos, awarding a total of N48 million in seed funding to four innovative social enterprises focused on advancing health and hygiene solutions across the country.
The selected enterprises; Geotek, HealthTracka, MN Environmental Services, and Preggify each received N12 million to scale their interventions. Their work spans a range of critical issues, from access to clean water and at-home health diagnostics to public sanitation and maternal health.
The initiative, which aligns with Reckitt’s broader mission to combat hygiene-related challenges in underserved communities, aims to empower local innovators to deliver measurable health impacts at scale.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Akbar Ali Shah, General Manager for Reckitt Sub-Saharan Africa, reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to community-based solutions. “At Reckitt, we take pride in offering products that are simple, safe, and effective — products that improve lives in meaningful, measurable ways,” he said. “But our mission extends beyond product delivery. Solving the world’s toughest hygiene challenges requires scalable, locally driven innovation.”
Each of the funded projects tackles a different dimension of hygiene and public health. Geotek focuses on water access, HealthTracka offers at-home diagnostic testing, Preggify addresses maternal care, and MN Environmental Services is working to improve sanitation in public markets by providing accessible toilet facilities.
Jife Williams, Co-Founder of MN Environmental Services, highlighted the urgent need for such interventions, particularly in low-income urban settings. “Our work is driven by concern for public health,” she said. “Every day, we witness the reality—rising rates of open defecation, especially in markets where toilet facilities are nearly inaccessible. This funding is a game-changer.”
Reckitt’s Access Accelerator Programme reflects its ongoing investment in grassroots innovation as a pathway to achieving healthier, more hygienic communities across Nigeria.
