The Chief Executive Officer of Ezzycare and the Ezzycare Mentorship Programme, Dr. Torngee Malu, has awarded N5 million in grants to five young entrepreneurs in Benue State to support and expand their businesses. The initiative is part of Ezzycare’s broader mission to empower local talents and drive economic transformation in the region.

The grants were presented during the Ezzycare Mentorship Pitch event held in Makurdi on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Dr. Malu, a plastic surgeon and visionary behind the programme, highlighted the wealth of innovation and drive among Nigerians, particularly in Benue, emphasizing the need to support individuals who are committed to building businesses that can impact their communities.

According to Malu, the mentorship programme attracted over 100 applicants. From this pool, 12 participants were initially shortlisted and interviewed. Ultimately, five finalists emerged and underwent weeks of intensive mentorship designed to refine their business ideas, build resilience, and prepare them for sustainable growth. These five individuals, now described as Ezzycare Alumni, each received N1 million to invest directly into their ventures.

While congratulating the winners, Malu urged them to maintain three critical principles in their entrepreneurial journey: integrity, hard work, and innovation. He emphasized the importance of being trustworthy and reliable in business, adding that consistent effort and a willingness to think differently are the keys to standing out and achieving long-term success.

“Be innovative. Do things differently. Do something exceptional that will take you to the next level,” Malu advised.

He also noted that the grant recipients are expected to become mentors themselves, transferring the knowledge and experience they have gained to others across the state in order to foster the emergence of more local businesses and entrepreneurs.

In her remarks, one of the programme coordinators pledged that the Ezzycare Alumni would work to pass on their learnings, helping to build a strong network of business leaders and innovators dedicated to the economic development of Benue State.

The Ezzycare Mentorship Programme is fast becoming a beacon of hope for aspiring entrepreneurs in the region, offering not just funding but also guidance, exposure, and community. Through initiatives like this, the programme is laying the groundwork for a more vibrant, self-sustaining local economy
