After more than a decade of inadequate access to farm inputs, farmers in Warri and other parts of Delta State have received a major boost as MyAgroPadi, a fast-rising digital-first agricultural platform, provided them with essential inputs and practical training on modern farming practices.
The workshop, held in partnership with the Sarah Avwomakpa Foundation, gathered over 250 farmers for a day of agribusiness coaching, post-harvest handling lessons, and mentorship from experts in the agricultural ecosystem. For many participants, the intervention addresses one of the biggest obstacles in Nigerian farming—limited access to affordable inputs and knowledge.
For years, rising costs and poor financial access have locked smallholder farmers out of opportunities to scale their production. MyAgroPadi is tackling this challenge by providing free farmland coaching, improved seedlings, and direct connections to off-takers, helping farmers bypass exploitative middlemen.
According to the platform’s founder, the goal is not just about deploying technology but building sustainable farming communities. “The real value comes from creating a network of farmers who are skilled, well-resourced and connected to reliable markets. This workshop is another step in that direction,” he said.
Despite Nigeria’s size and agricultural potential, many farmers still rely on outdated practices, making agriculture a difficult venture for smallholders. MyAgroPadi is reshaping this narrative by blending digital solutions with grassroots outreach, ensuring even those with limited internet access can benefit. Farmers in attendance were trained on how to navigate the platform, while also receiving improved seedlings expected to boost yields in the current planting season.
The training featured a team of agricultural professionals, including soil management scientist Okpidi Ebireri, agribusiness expert Sunday Oyoroko, and agricultural engineer Anthony Eduvie, who shared practical insights on farm planning, cost optimisation, and profitability. Their participation reflected the broad institutional support needed to unlock Nigeria’s agricultural potential.
With initiatives like this, MyAgroPadi is positioning itself as a game changer in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, equipping farmers not only with inputs but also with the knowledge and networks required to thrive in a competitive market.
