Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payments technology company, has partnered with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to enable seamless digital tax collection, reinforcing its role in modernizing Nigeria’s tax system.
Through this integration, FIRS will leverage Flutterwave’s secure payment infrastructure to collect taxes, levies, and other payments from businesses and individuals across the country. The partnership introduces multiple digital payment options, real-time transaction tracking, and offline tax payment capabilities, making tax remittances more accessible and transparent for individuals, SMEs, and large corporations.
Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola described the initiative as part of the company’s commitment to driving efficiency and economic growth. “By making tax payments easier and more transparent, we are helping to digitize government collections and support national development,” he stated.
The collaboration also aligns with FIRS’ ongoing efforts to modernize government revenue collection. Olufunmilayo Olaniyi, Flutterwave’s Senior Vice President of Business Development, emphasized the importance of fintech involvement in public sector innovation, noting that strategic partnerships like this help foster trust and drive impactful change in Nigeria’s digital economy.
Beyond tax collection, Flutterwave continues to play a key role in Nigeria’s financial ecosystem. In 2024, the company partnered with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to establish a cybercrime research center, further demonstrating its commitment to financial security and innovation.
As one of the few fintechs facilitating government tax payments, Flutterwave remains at the forefront of advancing digital financial solutions that support economic growth in Nigeria and beyond.
