The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered widows and indigent residents across all 16 local government areas of Kwara State by distributing 1,000 bags of rice as part of her end-of-year outreach programme.

The distribution, organised under the auspices of the Christian Northern Nigeria Progressive Forum (CNNPF), targeted vulnerable groups including widows, the less privileged, and religious adherents from Christian, Muslim, and traditional faith communities. At the event, the First Lady was represented by CNNPF National Officer, Mr. David Ifabiyi, who emphasised her dedication to supporting underprivileged Nigerians.

“The First Lady’s interest is dedicated towards reaching out to widows and indigent citizens. In the spirit of Christmas, she is putting smiles on the faces of vulnerable groups across the state,” Ifabiyi said.

Kwara State Coordinator of CNNPF, Deacon Victor Abioye, praised Senator Tinubu for the consistent nature of the initiative, noting that such interventions have positively impacted communities over the past two years. “It has been the usual practice of the First Lady to reach out to widows and other vulnerable Nigerians every December, and the beneficiaries truly feel the support,” Abioye said.

Beneficiaries, including Mr. Babarinde Abiodun and Mrs. Beatrice Oladimeji, expressed gratitude for the assistance, highlighting the timely support of food items during the festive season. Many urged continued prayers for the nation and the success of ongoing government initiatives that seek to improve the welfare of citizens.

The programme reflects an ongoing commitment to social empowerment and inclusion, providing essential support to households that face economic challenges, particularly during the yuletide period. By directly addressing the needs of vulnerable Nigerians, the initiative reinforces the importance of community-focused interventions in enhancing dignity, security, and well-being among the less privileged.
