First Bank of Nigeria Limited has announced a strategic partnership with EStars Education Africa Limited to launch formal esports education programmes, including entry-level certificates and BTEC courses in esports. The initiative is aimed at equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the fast-growing esports industry.
Beyond academics, the two organisations are also exploring a co-branded gaming credit card that will offer exclusive benefits, rewards, and features tailored to the gaming community, according to a statement from the bank.
With over 820 business locations and more than 39 million customer accounts, FirstBank said it is uniquely placed to support economic empowerment and innovation in emerging sectors such as esports. The bank emphasized that the collaboration reflects its commitment to youth development and technological advancement.
EStars CEO said the partnership with FirstBank will help make esports education accessible across Africa, highlighting the importance of innovative collaborations in driving educational progress on the continent.
Also speaking on the initiative, FirstBank’s Group Executive for e-Business and Retail Products described esports as a new frontier of creativity and career potential. He said the bank is committed to supporting young people through investments in education and by expanding opportunities within the African esports ecosystem.
