The Sean and Tarra Ajayi Foundation has awarded scholarships to 20 students of Femi Gbajabiamila Junior & Senior Secondary School, Ikate, Ijeshatedo, Surulere, Lagos State, as part of efforts to support education and youth development.
The scholarship presentation was carried out alongside the launch of the Million Mask Movement workshop, an initiative implemented in partnership with The Ever Forward Club. The workshop took place at the office of the Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Authority, Mr. Odunayo Daniel.
According to the foundation, both interventions are aimed at strengthening human capital development by supporting academically promising students and equipping young people with social-emotional and leadership skills.
Speaking at the event, Sean Ajayi, who co-initiated the foundation with his wife, Tarra Ajayi, said the programs were designed to provide mentorship, educational support, and personal development opportunities for Nigerian youth.
“As part of our commitment, the foundation awarded scholarships to deserving students to support their academic pursuits,” Ajayi said. “The Million Mask Movement is designed to bridge wellness and education gaps, foster authentic leadership, and create safe spaces for young people to thrive.”
He explained that beneficiaries of the scholarships and workshop would have access to social-emotional learning sessions aimed at preparing them for academic and life challenges, adding that the initiative would be expanded to more schools and youth centres.
During the presentation, Sean’s mother, Mrs. Amina Labinjo-Ajayi, emphasised the importance of investing in education as a driver of social and economic development. She encouraged Nigerians in the diaspora to contribute to educational development in their communities.
“I am proud of my children for giving back in this way. Education remains one of the strongest tools for national development,” she said.
Also present at the event was the school’s Principal, Mrs. Florence Olodeoku, who expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.
“This support aligns with the Lagos State Government’s focus on education. It will go a long way in helping these students achieve their potential,” she said, while calling on other individuals and organisations to support public schools.
The foundation noted that the initiative aligns with broader youth empowerment and development goals and is expected to contribute to improved educational outcomes and leadership capacity among beneficiaries.
Some of the scholarship recipients also expressed gratitude, describing the support as a motivation to work harder academically and pursue their future goals.
