During the French-Nigerian Economic Summit in Lagos, French Minister Olivier Becht pledged support for Nigeria in the energy sector, emphasizing France’s significant investment and partnership with Nigeria.

EconomyBecht highlighted the robust presence of French businesses in Nigeria, with investments exceeding $10 billion, employing over 10,000 Nigerians across diverse sectors. He emphasized that these companies are not merely trading French products but actively investing in Nigeria’s economy by establishing factories, farms, and vocational training centers.

Acknowledging Nigeria’s reform agenda, Becht noted the high expectations among French companies and investors, particularly in agriculture, energy, and technology, which are seen as pivotal for the future of bilateral relations.

Dr. Hebert Wigwe, Chairman of the France-Nigeria Business Council, emphasized the importance of a supportive network for business growth in Nigeria. He hailed the establishment of Access Bank in Paris as a significant milestone facilitating bilateral trade between France and Nigeria.

Usman Mohammed, President of the French-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), expressed gratitude for the partnership with the France-Nigeria Business Council, underscoring its aim to foster and promote businesses between the two countries.
