Abimah Foundation, a female empowerment and advocacy movement that promotes gender equality and human inclusion is set to host the maiden edition of its kind beauty pageant in Ghana – Miss Enterprise Ghana.
The Miss Enterprise Ghana (MEG) pageant is open to young, attractive, culturally savvy, business-savvy women between the ages of 18 and 30, who are ambitious, motivated, and have scalable start-up or business ideas.
Mr. Elijah Oduro, General Manager of 3D Events Management, briefed reporters in Accra, saying that successful applicants would have to create and present a business plan among other things. The winner would receive a cash prize of $2000 to launch the presented business as well as other $500 worth of promotional activities for their company.
He claims that winners in other categories will also receive financial opportunities and consolation prizes.
The Miss Enterprise Ghana pageant is being organized by the Abimah Foundation as part of an initiative to encourage bright, hardworking young girls who are looking for ethical ways to succeed without compromising morals in light of the high rate of moral decadence and unemployment among today’s youth, especially young girls.
It is a well-known fact that girl children make up a significant portion of the human resources of the country and, when educated and mentored effectively, can produce a variety of positive outcomes, including increased output, skill development, increased productivity, economic change, and improved quality of life, all of which contribute to long-term national development.
Therefore, it is anticipated that Miss Enterprise Ghana would build a platform for young girls’ learning, growth, and inspiration. Education, intelligence, leadership, independence, dedication to hard work, and entrepreneurship will be highlighted in the pageant.
Mr. Oduro said the “initiative has been able to reach out to over 3000 females of all ages across all tertiary schools in Ghana, markets and religious centres and other female interest groups, and this is just the beginning.”
Further, he noted that 1000 young female entrepreneurs will be shortlisted at the first stage, after which 100 interviewed at the second stage and further shortlisted to 20.
These 20 Contestants will advance to the third stage where they will be brought together for a period of 3months for drilling and coaching by industries’ best professionals in start-up and entrepreneurship, business development, branding, marketing & sales, etiquette, human management, finance and investment.
However, out of the 20, another top 10 will be selected based on an open test and moved into a camp house for 5 days where they will undergo further coaching, mentoring and other activities, after which a winner will emerge at a grand finale come 22nd October, 2022.
Abimah Foundation is a non-governmental and non-profit organization, with the zeal to empower youth through engagements, networks, information sharing and capacity building to lead change in their communities.
