The third edition of Techiman Startup Summit (TSS) aimed at empowering the youth to start their own businesses which held at Techiman, the Bono East Regional capital has come to a successful close.
The event which was organised by Agrico hub, a business innovation centre, in partnership with Ghana Tech Lab (GTL), the TSS is a six-weeks Web Application (Web-App) development training programme for the youth in the Techiman Municipality where a lot of business opportunities are present.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Agrico hub, George Antwi – Bosiako, said the focus of the summit was “digitalising agriculture for sustainable business development and job creation in Techiman.
“He noted that the various businesses raised throughout the training programme had the chance to present their concepts to groups of investors, business executives, industry experts, government representatives and others at the summit.
“We want to use digital technology to benefit the agriculture sector through digital skills training programmes. We will assist businesses to grow and organise entrepreneurship seminars, ” Mr Antwi – Bosiako said.
He claimed that Agrico Hub was utilizing Digital Technology Solutions (DTS) to assist Small and Growing Businesses (SGBs) in the areas of agriculture, trade, commerce, and services.
He said that winners of the startup summit would also receive working space, internet access, assistance with business development, mentorship through the Agrico hub Mentorship Network, and marketing and branding support as part of their prizes.
The CEO of Agrico Hub thanked the Techiman Municipal Assembly (TeMA), GTL partners, Member of Parliament for the area, Martin Adjei Mensah, and others for their support. The German International Cooperation Migration Employment Programme (GIZ – MEP), Techiman Municipal Assembly (TeMA), and others.
Mr. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, the MCE of Techiman Municipality, commended the management and employees of Agrico Hub for encouraging the municipality’s young people to start their own enterprises.
He was confident that the training workshop on electronic commerce that the hub had organized for roughly 30 Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the area would improve the quality of life for residents.
Mr. Gyarko stated that the government would offer financial and material help to young people as part of the “You – Start” project so they could launch their own businesses.
Referencing the idea that “self employment is wealth creation,” he promised TeMA’s assistance to partner Agrico hub in order to assist young entrepreneurs in sharpening their talents and creating jobs.
