Another group of winners in the Glo M-Agric trivia lottery received their prizes on Thursday at a presentation ceremony held at the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems. The event marked yet another milestone in Globacom’s efforts to combine digital engagement with agricultural development.
While the latest prize presentation was held in Lagos, earlier batches of winners across Nigeria received theirs at Gloworld outlets in various states, following similar ceremonies held a few months ago.
The M-Agric initiative, launched by telecoms giant Globacom in collaboration with Nitroswitch, offers agricultural support and educational content to subscribers on livestock, fisheries, crop production, and other farming operations. Participants also engage in trivia questions with opportunities to win a range of prizes, from airtime and data to cash rewards, training, and farm inputs.
Globacom’s Head of Value Added Services, Mojeed Aluko, reiterated the brand’s commitment to combining learning with empowerment. He disclosed that over 2.5 million Nigerians regularly participate in the M-Agric trivia, a growing sign of nationwide interest in agriculture-driven knowledge platforms. He also noted that the company’s partnership with the Lagos State Government aligns with national efforts to boost food security and agricultural self-sufficiency.
Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems praised Globacom and its partners for creating an initiative that not only rewards users but also educates them. She encouraged winners to reinvest their rewards in agriculture, highlighting the availability of support from the ministry’s departments and agencies. In a show of goodwill, she also gave each winner a free 50kg bag of rice.
Nine winners were honored at the event, including Fajobi Kabiru, a baker, who received N1 million. Kabiru expressed gratitude and pledged to channel the prize into agricultural investment. Retired accountant and now farmer, Adetunji Adewoye, won N500,000 and said the money would help him expand his farming venture. Another recipient, retired poultry farmer Adeyeye Olayinka, also won N500,000 and plans to reinvest in his poultry business.
Other beneficiaries included Wole Oluwalana, who received N200,000, as well as Oladele Taiwo, Akanbi Ayomide, a fashion designer, and Stephen Abdu, a Customs officer. All winners will also participate in internship program designed to enhance their practical farming skills and deepen their agricultural knowledge.
