The Seeding The Future Global Food System Challenge 2025, powered by Welthungerhilfe, is now open for innovators, researchers, startups, and organizations working to transform global food systems.

This annual initiative seeks bold and sustainable solutions that make healthy and affordable food accessible to all—while promoting climate-smart agriculture, nutrition, and sustainability.

If you’re developing an innovation that can improve food security, reduce waste, or boost smallholder productivity, this global challenge is for you.

Funding Details

The Challenge offers three tiers of funding based on the maturity of the project:

  • Seed Grants – $25,000
For early-stage innovators with prototypes or initial proof of concept.
  • Growth Grants – $100,000
For validated initiatives with proven feasibility and high potential for scaling.
  • 🌾Seeding The Future Grand Prizes – $250,000
For advanced, scalable innovations that demonstrate strong market readiness and the potential to transform food systems globally.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include:

  • Nonprofits, research institutions, and social enterprises
  • Startups working in food security, nutrition, sustainability, or climate resilience
  • Innovators with measurable social impact and economically viable solutions targeting underserved populations

Your idea should address one or more key areas of the global food ecosystem—such as nutrition access, agricultural sustainability, supply chain innovation, or climate adaptation.
