Google Acquires Wiz for $32 Billion to Strengthen Cloud Security
Share

Google has announced its acquisition of Wiz, Inc., a leading New York-based cloud security platform, in a $32 billion deal aimed at enhancing its cybersecurity capabilities and accelerating multi-cloud adoption. The acquisition, subject to regulatory approvals, will see Wiz integrated into Google Cloud upon completion.

As organizations increasingly rely on cloud services and AI, cybersecurity has become a top priority. Google stated that this move addresses two critical trends in the AI era: strengthening cloud security and supporting multi-cloud environments. Wiz, known for its seamless integration across major cloud platforms, helps businesses prevent cybersecurity incidents and protect cloud-based operations. Its solutions are widely used by startups, large enterprises, governments, and public sector organizations.

Google Cloud, a leader in cloud infrastructure with deep AI expertise, aims to enhance Wiz’s capabilities, offering scalable security solutions across all major cloud platforms. The integration is expected to provide end-to-end security, automate cybersecurity processes, lower costs, and protect against AI-driven threats.

Google and Wiz executives emphasized the strategic importance of the deal. Google CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted Google’s longstanding commitment to security, stating that the partnership will strengthen cybersecurity and offer more choices for cloud customers. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian underscored their shared vision of simplifying cybersecurity for businesses of all sizes, while Wiz CEO Assaf Rappaport expressed excitement about the deal’s potential to enhance security and prevent breaches.

Despite the acquisition, Google confirmed that Wiz’s products will remain available across all major cloud platforms, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud, ensuring continuity for existing customers.
