Heirs Insurance Launches 2025 Essay Championship with N10.5m in Prizes for Students and Teachers Nationwide
Share

Heirs Insurance Group has announced the opening of applications for the fourth edition of its annual Heirs Insurance Essay Championship, offering N10.5 million in prizes to junior secondary school students and teachers across Nigeria. This year’s competition, which runs from May 27 to July 8, 2025, aims to deepen insurance awareness among young Nigerians while recognizing the vital role of educators in promoting financial literacy. Students are invited to submit original essays of no more than 500 words on the topic “The Role of Insurance in Keeping Families Safe and Secure” through the organisation’s website.

The overall winner will receive a scholarship worth N5 million and an additional N1 million education grant for their school. The first runner-up will be awarded a N2 million scholarship, while the second runner-up will take home a N1 million scholarship. The application process also includes insurance-themed quizzes to engage students with basic concepts of insurance early on.

In a significant addition to this year’s edition, Heirs Insurance introduced the Teachers’ Insurance Awareness Prize, aimed at encouraging educators to champion insurance education within schools and communities. The top teacher will receive a N1 million cash prize and a N500,000 school grant. To be eligible, teachers must implement an insurance awareness project and provide documented evidence of its impact.

“We are excited to return with an even bigger edition of the Heirs Insurance Essay Championship,” said Ifesinachi Okpagu, Chief Marketing Officer of Heirs Insurance Group. “This year, we are not only empowering students and their schools but also shining a light on the critical role teachers play in shaping financially aware communities.”

The Heirs Insurance Essay Championship is a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of Heirs Insurance Group, designed to improve educational outcomes and foster a culture of insurance awareness among Nigeria’s younger generation. Winners will be announced at a grand finale in August 2025.

Heirs Insurance Group, the insurance subsidiary of pan-African investment company Heirs Holdings, operates across 24 countries and four continents.
