How to access the N40,000 per 50kg bag of Rice made available by Nigerian Government
Share

In response to growing food insecurity, the Nigerian government has introduced a scheme offering 50kg bags of milled rice at a subsidized price of ₦40,000. Here’s how you can access this essential food relief:

Required Documents:
To purchase the subsidized rice, you will need:

  • National Identification Number (NIN)
  • Valid ID Card
  • ATM Card (for payment)

Steps to Access the Rice:
1. Register: Present your NIN, ID card, and ATM card for registration.
2. Verification: After registration, your details will go through a verification process conducted by government officials.
3. Payment & Collection: Once verified, proceed with the payment using your ATM card. You can then collect your 50kg bag of rice at designated collection centers.

Abuja Collection Points:
First, visit the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) for registration.
After that, head to the Central Business Area, near the First Bank Branch by NNPC Towers, to collect the rice.

Preventing Fraud and Ensuring Fair Distribution:
Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, highlighted the importance of transparency. To avoid fraud, the government has limited each person to one bag of rice and will verify each beneficiary using their NIN and phone number.

The government is optimistic that this initiative, which will inject 30,000 metric tons of rice into the market, will help stabilize prices and provide relief to citizens.

Make sure to have your documents ready and follow the outlined steps to benefit from this critical food relief program.
