The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released detailed statistics from the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), revealing that 50.29% of candidates scored between 160 and 199. Out of 1,955,069 candidates, only 0.63% scored above 300, while 17.11% scored between 200 and 249.
Technical glitches and network failures marred the conduct of the CBT exams across centres, with several candidates, especially in Lagos, reporting incomplete or missing questions and system shutdowns mid-exam.
Notably, 40,247 underage candidates (under 16) took the exam, but only 1.16% of them scored above 300. JAMB also disclosed that 97 candidates were found guilty of misconduct, 2,157 are under investigation, and 71,701 candidates were absent, many due to biometric verification issues.
Special arrangements were made for blind candidates, and their results are pending final review. JAMB plans to hold a press briefing later in the week to announce the official release of all results.
