JAMB Warns CBT Centres Against Unauthorized Use of Candidates',Data

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has shifted the deadline for the final assessment of underage candidates who wrote the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), following delays by several universities in submitting their Post-UTME scores.

JAMB revealed that 23 out of the 71 universities chosen by the affected candidates failed to meet the initial September 15 deadline, even though the National Examinations Council (NECO) released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results on September 17.

According to JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the defaulting institutions include the University of Lagos, with 39 pending cases; Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja, with 18; Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, with 15; University of Abuja, with 12; and University of Uyo, with 9. In all, 135 candidates are affected.

The Board has formally written to the institutions, urging them to submit the outstanding scores without further delay. It also reminded all universities of their obligations under the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

Under the new timeline, public universities must forward their recommended candidates by Tuesday, September 30, 2025, while private universities have until Friday, October 31, 2025. JAMB stressed that the final deadlines; October 30 for public universities and November 31 for private universities remain binding in line with resolutions from the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions chaired by the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa.

JAMB emphasised that strict adherence to these timelines is essential to ensure fairness, transparency, and orderliness in the admission process for the 2025/2026 academic session. The extension offers temporary relief to the affected candidates, but the Board warned that no further excuses from institutions will be tolerated.
