Jide Akinyemi Foundation Distributes Christmas Packages to Over 5,000 Ekiti Residents

The Jide Akinyemi Foundation (JAF) has reached more than 5,000 residents across all 16 local government areas of Ekiti State with food items and festive gifts under its annual “Ekiti Christmas Box of Love ’25” outreach program.

The distribution, which took place in Ado-Ekiti as part of this year’s yuletide celebrations, provided essential food supplies and gift packages to vulnerable households, including the elderly, women, and low-income families. The initiative is intended to ease the economic pressure that many households face during the festive season and to help citizens celebrate with dignity.

Mr. Jide Akinyemi, Founder and CEO of the foundation, said the yearly program is rooted in a desire to spread joy and support communities at Christmas, while also complementing government efforts to uplift residents. He spoke about the importance of giving back and shared the foundation’s commitment to expanding the outreach in the coming years.

“Our aim is to ensure that vulnerable members of society can celebrate the season with dignity. We remain committed to continuing and expanding this initiative,” Akinyemi said.

The foundation’s Christmas outreach has been sustained for about four years, bringing targeted support and festive relief to thousands of residents across Ekiti State. Akinyemi, who hails from Ayedun in Ikole Local Government Area, noted the importance of community solidarity, particularly for those struggling with rising living costs and limited access to basic necessities.

The packages distributed included food staples and other essential items meant to provide immediate relief, support household food security, and give families a brighter holiday. By mobilizing resources and engaging local communities, the Jide Akinyemi Foundation’s initiative reflects growing civil society efforts across Nigeria and Africa to support vulnerable groups during key festive periods and beyond.

This intervention aligns with broader social support trends in the region, where several organizations run similar humanitarian programs during major holidays, extending relief to thousands of families to help cushion the impact of economic hardship.
