Jigawa Secures Over 2,000 Slots in FG’s SUPA Programme to Empower Youths
Share

Jigawa State has secured 2,054 beneficiary slots in the second phase of the Federal Government’s Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) Programme, covering all 27 local government areas of the state. The announcement was made by the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Special Duties, Hon. Auwal D. Sankara (FICA), who praised the outcome of sustained engagement with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).

“I am thrilled to inform you about the ITF Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) Programme,” Sankara said in an official statement. “This is a major initiative by the Federal Government, in collaboration with ITF, designed to empower, train, and license millions of Nigerian artisans with tech-enabled skills that promote excellence based on global industry standards.”

The SUPA programme is a cornerstone of the government’s job creation agenda. It aims to equip Nigerians, especially the youth, with practical and globally relevant technical skills in trades such as carpentry, ICT, welding, auto mechanics, electrical installation, and more. It also seeks to bridge the skills gap in the informal sector while boosting productivity and employability.

Sankara emphasised the administration’s commitment to ensuring that Jigawa youth do not miss out on national opportunities that foster empowerment and economic inclusion. “These 2,054 slots are not just numbers — they represent a pathway to self-reliance, income generation, and a future where Jigawa artisans can compete on both national and international levels,” he stated.

The Commissioner urged all applicants to check the list of successful beneficiaries, which has been published on Facebook for easy access: [https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14HGgrorHgM/]. He encouraged those whose names appear to take the opportunity seriously.

“We urge all successful applicants to prepare adequately and approach this training with commitment,” he said. “The Ministry stands ready to support you throughout the process as you acquire valuable, market-ready skills that will drive development in our state.”

This allocation of SUPA slots to Jigawa marks a significant step toward expanding access to technical and vocational training across Northern Nigeria, aligning with national efforts to reduce unemployment, promote entrepreneurship, and harness the potential of Nigeria’s growing youth population.
