Kamurum Integrated Farms has empowered more than 120 women entrepreneurs in Jaba Local Government Area, Kaduna State, reaffirming its commitment to grassroots economic growth and women-focused development.
The initiative, titled “Upscaling Women-Owned SMEs in Jaba Local Government,” took place on Thursday at the Ham Event Centre in Kwoi and drew participants from all 10 wards of the council. The programme is part of Kamurum Integrated Farms’ broader mission to enhance rural livelihoods, particularly in communities where women-owned small businesses face challenges in accessing capital and growth opportunities.
Rijo Shekari, CEO of Kamurum Integrated Farms and aspirant for the All Progressives Congress ticket for the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections, said the project reflects his belief that women are central to sustainable development. “Strengthening women-led enterprises leads to stronger households, more vibrant local markets, and a resilient economy,” he noted.
Shekari also commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for championing the Kaduna Peace Model, adding that restoring peace in previously troubled communities has created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
In a goodwill message, Mrs Fatu Gyet Maude, wife of the paramount ruler of Ham, described the initiative as a strategic step toward enhancing women’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to community progress. She encouraged beneficiaries to use the financial support wisely to grow their ventures and pledged that the palace would continue to back interventions that promote peace, social advancement, and women’s empowerment. She also appealed to individuals and organisations to emulate Kamurum Integrated Farms by prioritising community-centred development.
Each participant received ₦105,000, a gesture many described as life-changing, helping to boost productivity, improve household welfare, and contribute to the wider economic growth of Jaba.
The initiative further strengthens Kamurum Integrated Farms’ reputation as not only a key agribusiness player but also a significant force in community development across Southern Kaduna.
