Karpowership has teamed up with the World Bank’s *Women in Energy Network Africa (WEN-Africa)* initiative to promote gender equality and enhance female employment in Africa’s energy industry. The partnership, which spans at least ten African countries, aims to create a more inclusive and sustainable future for the continent’s energy sector.
Aligned with the World Bank’s *2024-2030 Gender Strategy*, the collaboration focuses on four key pillars: increasing female employment, advancing professional development, advocating for policy reforms, and improving STEM education for girls.
Zeynep Harezi Yılmaz, Chief Commercial Officer at Karpowership, emphasized the company’s commitment: “We are excited to partner with the World Bank to expand opportunities for women and strengthen our social impact. We must address gender-specific barriers by increasing the number of women studying and creating pathways for them to thrive professionally.”
Fowzia Hassan, Task Team Leader of WEN-Africa, shared similar sentiments: “We are pleased to officially partner with Karpowership in accelerating gender equality and promoting inclusive economic growth through increased women’s participation in Africa’s energy future.”
As part of the partnership, Karpowership has committed to providing career counseling, internships, vocational training, and scholarships for female students, alongside implementing gender-inclusive policies for its staff.
