LAPO Microfinance Bank Expands Support for Women Entrepreneurs

LAPO Microfinance Bank has strengthened its commitment to women’s financial empowerment as it joins the global celebration of International Women’s Day 2025 under the theme, Accelerate Action.The bank is rolling out financial literacy programs, business mentorship initiatives, and access to soft loans to help women entrepreneurs across Nigeria expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Recognizing the crucial role women play in economic development, LAPO has consistently supported female entrepreneurs through its loan programs, with over 70% of its lending portfolio dedicated to women-led businesses. In 2024 alone, the bank disbursed more than ₦237 billion to women entrepreneurs, reinforcing its position as a leading advocate for financial inclusion.

As part of its International Women’s Day activities, LAPO will host a networking forum where successful female business leaders, industry experts, and customers of the bank will discuss challenges in business, share success stories, and explore opportunities for growth in Nigeria’s evolving economy.

 

Speaking on the initiative, the bank’s Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications emphasized that empowering women is not just a corporate responsibility but a strategic approach to driving economic growth. He reiterated that LAPO remains committed to equipping women with the financial tools, education, and resources they need to thrive.

Beyond lending, the bank also provides training in financial management, digital banking, and investment strategies, ensuring that women entrepreneurs are well-equipped to scale their businesses sustainably.

LAPO Microfinance Bank has long been a champion of financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and poverty alleviation. Through its extensive branch network and digital banking services, it continues to reach underserved individuals and businesses, ensuring that more women can access financial opportunities without barriers
