MAN Applauds Stakeholders for Driving Cleaner Production in Nigeria
Share

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has commended stakeholders for their commitment to transforming the manufacturing sector through resource efficiency and cleaner production practices.

MAN’s Director-General, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, gave the commendation at the opening of a five-day specialised workshop on Industrial Energy Efficiency and Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production, organised under the GEF-UNIDO initiative in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

He praised the Bank of Industry (BOI) for its crucial role in managing the financing component of the initiative, ensuring manufacturers have access to funds for energy-efficient solutions and sustainable production practices.

The GEF-UNIDO project, a collaboration between the Global Environmental Facility and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, aims to help countries reduce emissions, improve climate resilience, and eliminate chemical waste through sustainable industrial practices.

“This capacity-building workshop brings together UNIDO, the Project Management Unit, the Bank of Industry, and selected financial institutions. It signifies our collective commitment to transforming Nigeria’s manufacturing sector while ensuring environmental sustainability,” Ajayi-Kadir said.

He emphasized that financial support under the project would enable industries to adopt technologies that lower energy consumption, reduce operational costs, and contribute to sustainable development.

National Project Coordinator Oladipp Jacob, representing UNIDO Nigeria’s Oluyemi Banjo, outlined the key stakeholders involved, including the BOI, the Federal Ministry of Power, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, and the National Universities Commission.

The workshop aims to provide insights into the structure and framework of the GEF-UNIDO IEE & RECP Nigeria project, equipping participants with the knowledge needed for its successful implementation.
