This initiative is designed to support and nurture the next generation of Nigerian musicians, providing them with opportunities to receive world-class training.
According to a statement from the MTN Foundation, the scholarship program offers a fully funded two-year diploma course in music. This program allows talented individuals to receive specialized training in both vocal and instrumental music from MUSON’s renowned faculty.
“Vocal majors will undergo intensive training to develop their techniques, range, and expressiveness, while instrumental majors will receive personalized instruction in classical music instruments such as the piano, violin, cello, and flute,” the foundation stated.
Odunayo Sanya, Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians and preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage. “The MTN MUSON School of Music Scholarship is one way we continually nurture talent, providing opportunities for aspiring musicians to take the global stage,” Sanya said.
Successful applicants will receive an annual scholarship that covers tuition, books, and transportation expenses throughout their studies. In addition, they will have access to MUSON’s facilities and resources, as well as performance opportunities at the school’s concerts and events.
