NCC SMEDAN, NAICOM, SEC, Others Set for SUPERNEWS SMEs Conference

The upcoming SUPERNEWS Nigeria SMEs Forum 2024 is set to take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Radisson Hotel, GRA Ikeja, Lagos. The conference will bring together key regulators, experts, and stakeholders from the financial services and ICT sectors, along with small business owners, to discuss integrating SMEs into the financial services network through fintech solutions.

Key Highlights of the Event:

Opening and Chairing: 

  Charles Odii, Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), will open the conference.

  Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), will chair the event.

Keynote Address:

  Delivered by Biodun Adedipe, a renowned economist and financial expert, focusing on the challenges faced by SMEs in Nigeria and exploring practical solutions.

Panel Session:

  Yeye Modupe Dada, Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME).

  Sam Ogbodu, Managing Director/CEO of Sunu Assurances Plc.

  Kasimu Garba Kurfi, Managing Director/CEO of APT Securities and Funds Limited.

  Ayokunle Olubunmi, Head of Financial Institutions Ratings at Agusto & Co.

Special Guests of Honour:

  Dr. Emomotimi Agama, Acting Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

  Olusegun Ayo Omose, Commissioner for Insurance/CEO of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).

Conference Theme:

“Bringing SMEs into the Financial Services Network via Fintech”

Objectives:

Identify Challenges: Address key challenges faced by SMEs in accessing financial services, such as lack of financial education, high-interest rates, and gender discrimination.

Leverage Technology: Discuss how fintech can help SMEs overcome financial barriers, improve sustainability, and drive growth.

Enhance Awareness: Provide participants with insights on leveraging banking, capital markets, pensions, and insurance to grow and sustain their businesses.

The forum will serve as a platform for learning and networking, offering SMEs practical solutions to enhance their operations through fintech innovations. By addressing these critical issues, the conference aims to bolster the productivity and profitability of SMEs in Nigeria.
