Former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will deliver the 23rd Chief S.L Edu Memorial Lecture organized by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) next week in Lagos.
Themed “Greening Africa’s Economies: Can Climate Positive Growth Deliver Prosperity?”, the annual lecture underscores the critical role of climate-positive growth in fostering sustainable economic development across Africa.
A flagship advocacy platform of NCF, the lecture highlights pressing environmental issues, offering actionable solutions through esteemed speakers. For over two decades, it has shaped public discourse and influenced policy on environmental conservation and sustainability, both in Nigeria and globally.
This year’s event will also see two PhD students awarded grants sponsored by Chevron Nigeria Limited. These grants, focused on research in nature conservation, biodiversity preservation, environmental management, and sustainable livelihoods, are the result of rigorous selection processes involving experts and stakeholders.
Osinbajo, known for his dedication to economic transformation and sustainable development, is expected to outline strategies for Africa to balance prosperity with environmental stewardship. His address will explore pathways to achieve climate-positive growth while building resilience and wealth for African communities.
NCF Media and Communications Manager Olusomi Oduguwa emphasized the lecture’s impact in shaping opinions, influencing policies, and advancing environmental research. Through platforms like these, the foundation continues to champion sustainable development and inspire innovative solutions to global environmental challenges.
