The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has clarified rumors about an online registration for a 900,000-youth skills development program, stating that the actual target for the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative is 93,731 individuals. This correction, delivered by Edmund Onwuliri, NDE’s Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, aims to curb misinformation as the Directorate’s initiative gains traction.
NDE’s program is geared toward unskilled and unemployed Nigerians, with the objective of promoting inclusive employment opportunities. Through an online portal, eligible participants from each electoral ward across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are encouraged to apply, ensuring balanced regional representation. The registration is accessible at NDE’s official websites—[www.nde.gov.ng] and [www.nderegistrationportal.ng] and applicants are urged to use only these links to avoid fraudulent sites.
The initiative, which spans 30 skill areas, features special provisions for women and people with disabilities to ensure inclusivity across various demographics. Due to high interest from unemployed individuals nationwide, the NDE has extended the registration deadline by 48 hours, closing it at midnight on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
The Directorate encourages applicants and the public to rely on verified updates via official channels to avoid misinformation. NDE remains committed to reducing unemployment by fostering skills development across Nigeria.
