The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has provided support to 55 entrepreneurs in Akwa Ibom, offering them facilities to enhance their ventures in agriculture. These entrepreneurs, trained in modern agricultural skills between 2022 and 2023, received the disbursement during the orientation and flag-off ceremony of the Community-Based Agricultural Empowerment Scheme (CBAES) in Uyo on Wednesday.
Mallam Abubakar Fikpo, the Director General of NDE, represented by the State Coordinator, Mr. Obegolu Donatus, highlighted the Directorate’s commitment to identifying demand-driven skills in entrepreneurial agriculture. The initiative aims to generate employment opportunities for the youth by facilitating small-scale off-farm enterprises.
Fikpo expressed gratitude to the federal government for its efforts in addressing unemployment and encouraged youths to shift their focus from white-collar jobs to embrace self-employment. During the event, Mr. Folarin Martins, the Director of the Inspectorate Department in Abuja, congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to utilize the provided facilities effectively for entrepreneurial success.
