NELFUND Disburses Over ₦38 Million in Student Loans to Four Nigerian Institutions
Share

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the successful disbursement of over ₦38 million to students in four tertiary institutions, marking a significant milestone in the rollout of its student loan programme. The disbursement, which aims to ease the financial burden on students and promote access to higher education, was confirmed in an official statement released by the agency.

According to the announcement, Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic received ₦3,057,500 for 28 students, while the Federal University of Education, Zaria secured ₦9,489,050 for 242 beneficiaries. Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic received ₦5,081,000 to support 75 students, and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education topped the list with ₦20,605,500 disbursed to 171 students.

NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to educational access and equity across the country, stating, “We remain committed to supporting students across Nigeria in achieving their academic goals.”

The fund, established as a strategic intervention to tackle the rising cost of education, is part of the Federal Government’s broader effort to create inclusive learning opportunities and promote human capital development. With more institutions and students expected to benefit in the coming months, the loan programme is poised to play a transformative role in Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
