In celebration of International Women’s Day, Nestlé Professional, a division of Nestlé Nigeria, has hosted the 10th edition of its Business of Food workshop in Benin. The initiative has transformed over 2,000 food businesses across Nigeria in the past three years, equipping entrepreneurs with skills to enhance operations, drive growth, and boost income.
This edition brought together more than 200 female industry experts, restaurant operators, chefs, culinary students, street food vendors, caterers, and grillers, focusing on empowerment and collaboration.
Speaking at the event, Nestlé Professional Nigeria’s Business Manager, Funmi Osineye, highlighted the impact of the workshop. “Food vendors play a crucial role in nourishing communities. Over 10 editions, we have received numerous testimonials from women whose businesses have significantly grown,” she said.
For the first time, the workshop featured a panel discussion with key food industry figures. Princess Esther Eruanga commended the initiative, noting that it aligns with this year’s International Women’s Day theme by recognizing the vital role women play in shaping economies.
A major highlight was a masterclass led by celebrity Chef Vivian, Managing Director of Wedding and Things Events, where participants learned practical skills to enhance their businesses.
Attendees reported a deeper understanding of essential business practices, positioning them for better service delivery and increased sales. Nestlé Professional continues to drive women’s empowerment in the food industry, fostering a more inclusive and thriving ecosystem.
