NGX Partners UN on Women Empowerment

The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) and the Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) are set to host an event on March 7 at NGX Group House, Lagos, to mark International Women’s Day 2025.  Theme: “Accelerate Action for All Women: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” the event is part of the global Ring the Bell for Gender Equality campaign, a collaboration with the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, UN Women, UN Global Compact, World Federation of Exchanges, and the International Finance Corporation.

Bringing together policymakers, investors, listed companies, and civil society leaders, the event will explore strategies to close gender gaps in Nigeria’s corporate sector. Discussions will center on policies that promote workplace equality, financial instruments tailored for women’s empowerment, and investment opportunities that support female-led businesses.

NGX Group Managing Director/CEO Temi Popoola emphasized the exchange’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive financial ecosystem. “As Africa’s leading integrated financial market infrastructure group, we are strategically driving gender equality through transformed policies, inclusive financial instruments, and pathways that unlock women’s economic potential,” he said.

Stakeholders in Nigeria’s capital market have also called for stronger investment in women and deeper inclusion across industries, stressing the need for sustained efforts to bridge gender disparities in leadership, finance, and entrepreneurship.
