Share

The Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (Nigcomsat) is exploring a potential collaboration with the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to enhance internet connectivity for commuters using the Lagos rail transit system.

During a strategic visit led by Managing Director Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, Nigcomsat aims to offer services such as robust internet connectivity, onboard e-commerce, and wireless entertainment to commuters of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) system, leveraging satellite technology.

The partnership aims to improve connectivity on both the Red and Blue Lines of the Lagos rail network, with plans to expand to future lines such as the Green and Purple Lines, as announced by the Lagos State government.

The LRMT system, currently comprising the Red and Blue Lines, is undergoing expansion and development, with completed phases and ongoing construction to enhance transportation infrastructure in Lagos.
