Niger State has signed a ₦1.8 trillion guaranteed offtake agreement with Dangote Industries Limited to establish Nigeria’s largest rice farm. The 10-year project, spanning 25,000 hectares, will create 50,000 jobs and support 50,000 local farmers.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago described the deal as a “game-changer” that will transform Niger State into a major food production hub. Facilitated by the Niger State Investment Promotion Agency (NSIPA), the initiative guarantees a market for locally grown paddy rice, which will be supplied by Niger Foods Security Systems and Logistics Ltd to Dangote Rice Limited.
Water for the farms will be sourced from the Rivers Niger and Kaduna, enabling efficient rice production. The project aligns with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), reinforcing Nigeria’s role in regional food trade.
NSIPA MD, Dr. Abdullahi Bala, said the deal sets a benchmark for impactful public-private partnerships, positioning Niger State at the center of Nigeria’s food security agenda.
