President Bola Tinubu has initiated the National Health Fellows Programme to bolster primary healthcare services across Nigeria, aiming to establish over 8,800 new centers nationwide.
Under this program, young Nigerian fellows will be stationed in all 774 local government areas to monitor and assess the development and performance of primary healthcare centers.
The well-trained fellows will serve as fiduciary agents, ensuring that financial resources allocated to these centers are utilized effectively and transparently.
The program, housed within the Sector Wide Approach coordination office under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, will recruit, remunerate, and equip fellows with the necessary tools for comprehensive monitoring.
President Tinubu’s commitment to this initiative reflects his belief in the capabilities of young Nigerians to drive impactful nation-building efforts, including daily monitoring of health reforms.
As the African Union Champion for Human Resources in Healthcare, President Tinubu envisions a new era of top-notch healthcare provision accessible to all Nigerians across the country.
