The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has unveiled a new digital service, NIN Authentication (NINAuth), to enhance secure identity verification for citizens and legal residents. The initiative, launched in line with the Commission’s mandate, follows a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requiring all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to adopt the system for verification processes.
NINAuth offers a suite of services including web, API, and mobile platforms designed to simplify access to public services while ensuring data privacy and security. The app introduces a layer of user consent before personal information can be shared for Know Your Customer (KYC) or other verification purposes, promoting transparency and control.
With NINAuth, Nigerians can verify their identity to access essential services such as SIM registration and replacement, passport processing, immigration services, tax filings, financial transactions, driver’s license renewals, and participation in government intervention programs.
According to NIMC, the application ensures enhanced data protection, user autonomy in data sharing, and a single sign-on solution for seamless access to multiple services. The platform is built to support real-time authentication through API integration, improving efficiency, service delivery, and national database harmonization.
NINAuth has been designated as the exclusive platform for all NIN-based verification and authentication services in the country. The app is available for download on both Google Play Store and Apple iOS AppStore.
