Share

President Bola Tinubu reaffirms his administration’s dedication to investing in digital technology to empower small businesses, create opportunities across sectors, and position Nigeria as a leader in information and communications technology (ICT) in Africa.

During a meeting with a delegation from Meta Platforms Incorporated, led by Sir Nick Clegg, President Tinubu underscores the importance of preparing Nigerian youth for the AI-enabled future and emphasizes the role of technology in driving economic expansion.

President Tinubu highlights the significance of technology in supporting small businesses, expressing his commitment to fostering a conducive environment for their growth and profitability.

Sir Clegg commends President Tinubu for facilitating the Meta-backed deep-sea cable project in Nigeria, which is expected to significantly boost economic activity across the African continent.

He also announces Meta’s plan to introduce a feature on Instagram in June 2024, enabling Nigerian creators to monetize their content and earn a living using the app.

Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, underscores the importance of partnerships and engagement with Meta platforms to promote development in Nigeria’s digital economy sector and connect Africa to global prosperity.
