Nigeria to Launch Nationwide MSME Census in 2025
Share

The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment (FMITI) has unveiled plans to conduct a nationwide census of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in 2025 as part of its strategy for economic growth and industrial transformation.

In the ministry’s 2025 outlook document, Minister Dr. Jumoke Oduwole highlighted the census as a key initiative to create a precise, data-driven roadmap for empowering MSMEs. Speaking alongside the Minister of State for Industry, the initiative was described as crucial for supporting Nigeria’s economic diversification.

Dr. Oduwole emphasized the ministry’s focus on implementing targeted policies to accelerate industrialization, digitization, creative arts, manufacturing, and innovation. “We are committed to strengthening trade policies, boosting private-sector competitiveness, and creating wealth and productive jobs for Nigerians,” she said.

Key priorities in FMITI’s 2025 outlook include economic diversification, trade revenue growth, and investment mobilization. The ministry also plans to rehabilitate export processing zones, enhance intellectual property protection, and leverage technology and artificial intelligence to boost trade and investment.

In partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, FMITI aims to ensure exportable food products meet international safety standards, further enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness in global markets.
