Nigerian Agriculture Ministry Launches Nationwide Distribution of Farming Tools
Share

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has announced plans for “Operation Empty the Store,” an initiative to distribute agricultural equipment and inputs to farmers nationwide.

Dr. Marcus Ogunbiyi, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, revealed the initiative during a workshop for members of the Agriculture Correspondents Association of Nigeria (ACAN) in Abuja. He emphasized that the project aims to maximize the use of tools and resources stored by the ministry to enhance food production.

“This means all equipment and inputs in our stores, which are not meant to stay idle, will be distributed to farmers to help feed the nation,” Ogunbiyi said.

Highlighting agriculture’s potential to address economic challenges, he called for a national effort to embrace farming as a tool for development. Ogunbiyi also praised the media for creating awareness and holding leaders accountable, adding that the ministry will continue to share its progress under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on agricultural development, food security, and job creation.

Dr. Joel Oruche, Director of the Department of Information, reiterated the ministry’s commitment to food security, agribusiness growth, rural development, and wealth creation.
