Tingo Mobile has introduced an Electronic Point-of-Sale (ePOS) system aimed at transforming financial transactions across Nigeria. The CEO of Tingo Mobile Plc, Auwal Muade, revealed at a press briefing in Lagos that the ePOS system is designed not only to simplify transactions but also to foster the growth and success of businesses nationwide.
Muade emphasized the system’s capabilities, noting that Tingo’s ePOS enables easy cash withdrawals and provides merchants with instant payments for their businesses, eliminating maintenance costs, operational fees, and network-related issues.
He stated, “Our commitment at Tingo Mobile goes beyond facilitating transactions; we aim to reshape how people connect and interact beyond just payments. Our innovative ePOS system is a catalyst for seamless experiences, bridging digital gaps and transforming the way technology engages businesses and communities.”
Addressing security concerns, the CEO highlighted Tingo’s unwavering focus on security measures integrated into the ePOS. He emphasized the system’s tight security features that link each account securely to a specific device, enhancing merchant login details and preventing unauthorized access on alternative devices. This robust security framework underscores Tingo’s dedication to fostering trust and reliability in every transaction processed through the ePOS.
Samuel Onwuekwe, head of partnerships and channels development/implementation at Tingo, emphasized the value-driven aspect of the solution, especially for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria. He highlighted that MSMEs, often overlooked for POS issuance by banks, can now leverage their existing NFC-enabled mobile phones to accept payments, providing a significant advantage in the market.
