The Federal Government has intensified its youth empowerment efforts through a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Youth Development and Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM). The collaboration is designed to expand training, apprenticeship, and enterprise development programmes, with a strong focus on the automotive value chain and related industries.
During a working visit to the Innoson manufacturing plant in Nnewi, Anambra State, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, praised the company’s founder for his commitment to indigenous innovation, industrial growth, and job creation. He acknowledged Innoson’s ongoing technical training and apprenticeship schemes, which have opened doors for hundreds of young Nigerians, including women who are breaking barriers as auto technicians.
Olawande also met with the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development to reaffirm support for the “1 Youth, 2 Skills” campaign — a national initiative aimed at equipping young Nigerians with practical, income-generating competencies to boost innovation, productivity, and self-reliance.
According to the Ministry, the partnership will deepen youth participation in Nigeria’s industrial and economic development, while strengthening local manufacturing capacity and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
For MSMEs within the automotive and manufacturing sectors, the move signals wider prospects for skilled labour, technical collaborations, and supply chain growth driven by a more empowered youth workforce.
