The Nigerian government has implemented a reduction in electricity tariffs for Band A customers, aiming to provide more affordable energy access to consumers. Previously, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) had set a tariff of N225/Kwh for Band A customers receiving a minimum of 20 hours of daily supply.
However, in the newly approved review, Band A customers will now pay N206.80/Kwh, representing a decrease in their electricity tariff.
In a notice to its customers issued on Monday, Ikeja Electric confirmed the tariff reduction, stating, “Please be informed of the downward tariff review of our Band A feeders from N225/kwh to N206.80/kwh effective May 6, 2024, with guaranteed availability of 20–24 hours of supply daily.”
It’s important to note that the tariffs for Bands B, C, D, and E remain unchanged, maintaining consistency for customers falling within those bands.
This tariff reduction reflects the government’s commitment to addressing affordability concerns and ensuring equitable access to electricity across different consumer segments.
