The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has introduced the Renewed Hope Portal, aimed at providing Nigerians with easier access to the federal government’s mass housing programs. The portal, launched yesterday in Abuja, is designed to be an online, transparent, and user-friendly platform for the sale of homes under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme, initiated by President Tinubu earlier this year.
Minister Dangiwa highlighted that this new platform marks a significant step in the ministry’s efforts to create a more efficient and future-oriented housing system. The Renewed Hope Portal builds on the lessons learned from previous housing initiatives, aiming to deliver a better, more streamlined experience for users.
The portal will help gather crucial data on housing needs across different locations and demographics, supporting a Demand-Driven Strategy for Housing. “We promised to facilitate and promote the creation of technology systems and private sector-led initiatives that will make it simpler, easier, and more convenient for Nigerians to own their homes,” Dangiwa said. “Today, we are gathered here to take yet another major step towards achieving that promise with the launch of the Renewed Hope Housing Platform.”
The platform boasts a user-friendly interface to make the journey to homeownership smooth and straightforward. It ensures a seamless and secure registration process with identity verification, enabling potential homeowners to efficiently search for properties using various filters to find homes that meet their specific needs. Additionally, the platform offers flexible payment options, including both one-time payments and installment plans, catering to various financial situations.
Dangiwa also revealed that the platform will provide easy access to mortgage plans, allowing homebuyers to check their eligibility and apply from anywhere in the world. It supports equity contributions for mortgages and streamlines financial planning for buyers. The minister emphasized the ministry’s focus on building affordable homes in needed locations to avoid the issue of completed but abandoned houses.
Currently, the Renewed Hope Programme has estates in 12 locations and three cities across the country, ensuring that housing development aligns with the actual demand.
