The Association of Nigerian Refinery Petroleum Marketers is joining forces with the federal government to tackle irregularities in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Speaking at the induction of Commissioners/Coordinators of the petroleum task force for 36 States and the FCT, Comrade Ikechukwu Chukwu, the association’s National Task Force Coordinator 1, emphasized their commitment to eliminating irregularities and supporting Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
Chukwu stressed that combatting irregularities in the sector is crucial for the country’s economic recovery and to ensure better lives for Nigerian citizens.
Engr. Innocent Ogu, the association’s secretary, echoed the determination to root out corruption in the oil and gas sector, targeting activities such as bunkering and involvement of dubious middlemen.
Ogu highlighted the negative impact of these practices on the prices of petroleum products, causing artificial scarcity and difficulties for consumers.
The association is establishing a strong team to operate in all 36 states and the FCT, equipped with the necessary tools and information to achieve their goals.
Their objectives include ensuring the availability of unadulterated kerosene, cooking gas, and fuel at reasonable prices while eliminating bunkering, exploitation, hoarding, and artificial scarcity in the distribution chain.
