Nigeria’s Vice President Calls for Inter-Agency Synergy to Improve Business Climate in Nigeria
Share

Nigeria’s Vice President has called on Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to prioritize collaboration, data sharing, and joint planning as essential steps toward enhancing the country’s business environment.

Speaking at the closing session of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) retreat in Abuja, the Vice President urged heads of MDAs and reform champions to work together and eliminate bureaucratic fragmentation that hinders economic progress. He stressed that cooperation among government agencies is critical to achieving a seamless and investor-friendly business climate.

In a statement released by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), the Vice President reiterated the administration’s commitment to improving the ease of doing business in Nigeria. He noted that data sharing and inter-agency dialogue are vital for building a cohesive public sector capable of driving reforms and attracting investment.

He urged government bodies to discard the culture of rigid mandates and instead adopt a collaborative approach to policy implementation, including the use of joint KPIs, inter-agency task teams, and technological tools to streamline services and eliminate duplication.

“The time for bureaucratic turf wars is over,” he declared, emphasizing that Nigeria’s future depends on how effectively its public institutions work together. He pointed out that the complexity of government operations requires unified action, not isolated efforts, and called for a shift from “silos to synergy,” from “ambition to execution.”

He also reminded MDAs that the private sector and international investors are closely observing Nigeria’s performance and stressed the urgency of translating policies into measurable outcomes.

In closing, the Vice President urged government agencies to embrace a culture of accountability, innovation, and transparency in service delivery, adding that now is the time to build a government that operates in sync to support the country’s economic and social goals.
