NITDA Commits to Achieving 95% Digital Literacy Coverage by 2030
Share

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has reiterated its commitment to collaborating with key partners to achieve 95% digital literacy coverage in Nigeria by 2030. Kashifu Inuwa, the director general of NITDA, affirmed this during discussions with e-health Africa, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to implement impactful digital initiatives.

Inuwa highlighted NITDA’s role in championing seven out of nine strategic plans unveiled by the Ministry of Communications Innovation and Digital Economy, focusing on implementation through its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan 2024-2027. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with relevant bodies and experts to ensure successful policy implementation and accelerate Nigeria’s overall development.

The DG outlined NITDA’s collaboration with various development partners, including GIZ, the UK government, and the Federal Ministry of Education, to revise the curriculum for digital skills learning, facilitating Nigeria’s digital transformation. In response to policy shifts, Inuwa stressed the significance of focusing on demand-driven skills to foster a resilient tech ecosystem and address digital literacy challenges.

NITDA is tasked with implementing various programs under the Ministry’s strategic blueprint, including AI, Blockchain, IoT, the Nigerian Start-up Act, Data Strategy, and the Digital Economy Bill. Seeking collaboration with e-health Africa, Inuwa emphasized the importance of implementing these programs for national development

The visiting team from e-health Africa expressed readiness to collaborate with NITDA and other relevant organizations to implement the National e-health policy, aligning with NITDA’s mandate as the nation’s apex IT regulator. They affirmed their commitment to actualizing the digital dreams of the Nigerian citizenry through robust collaboration and engagement.
